Hello you reader! I see on many sites people started publishing their reviews of The Witcher a week and a half ago. Interestingly, they played the game on difficulty "plot only"? or they have no personal life at all? maybe they didn’t pass at all? Doesn’t matter! I was only able to master it yesterday, and it took me… mmm… 22 days, taking into account the fact that I played for 3-4 hours on weekdays and if there was nothing to do on the weekend, I spent 5-6 hours with Geralt. That is, I caught enough content to judge this creation CD Project Red.

The effect of surprise
I think there is no point in talking about what The Witcher is, since everyone has most likely already heard about it and its author, Adrzej Sapkowski (not bad, the Poles popularized his books?). I started, like you most likely, with the 1st part, which, to be honest, I didn’t like. I left it somewhere in the middle. And about the same story happened with part 2. Don’t get me wrong, the games are good, but the mechanics turned me off! That is, it turned out that the plot was excellent (or just good), the atmosphere was great and the art was wild (especially in 2nd, in the initial levels with the forest). So I didn’t expect anything like this from a wild hunt, even though I watched videos and advertising campaigns from the developers. And when you don’t expect the game to work, and it does, the effect is strong.
I was influenced by one overweight journalist, nongamstopsites.uk if you know who I mean, who praised the game, calling it one of the candidates for the game of the year, which could not go unnoticed by me. So that very element of surprise played a role, which was further strengthened by the fact that the game turned out to be not only good, but one of the best in recent times. From the very start to the very end, it’s impossible to get rid of the feeling of such a cool journey, and the adventure genre is my favorite. The feeling is about the same as when you bought some great game as a child, and it captivated you for many hours, after which you wanted to share your impressions with friends. Why like in childhood? because now, for example in my case, friends don’t give a shit It’s not very interesting to hear about my impressions related to games, and even as a child I perceived everything differently… So what am I talking about… and yes, The Witcher! Enough foreplay.
Almost a series
As I said, The Witcher is a journey. The journey is long, but very exciting, it would make a good series. You probably already know that one of the main advantages of the game are the side quests, which are written almost like plot ones, unlike the game that received the title of game of the year at SXSW Gaming Awards 2015 – DA Inquisition. The difference between "give it, bring it" And “help grandma get the pan” because what’s going on in The Witcher is huge. Each character who gives you a task has a backstory, which is not just some kind of story, but written and interesting. Do you really want to do extra work?. tasks, since they look like plot tasks (there are better ones). Touching only the storyline in the game, skipping the titanic work done by the developers on side quests, how to play Skyrim just for the sake of the story… Speaking of extras. tasks, the game also has "Witcher orders", which actually imply an order for a monster. An equally interesting feature, where you have to conduct a small investigation while the Herald is coolly muttering about what happened at the crime scene (the last time I was so drawn to the words of the hero in Max Payne), and knock off monsters’ heads. As for the storyline, it’s hard not to immerse yourself in it, because after completing each task you become wildly interested in what will happen next. The beginning, middle and end are all, as for me, on the same level (well, maybe the first 10 minutes are a little worse). Political intrigues, love lines to choose from, meetings with old acquaintances. Those who read the books probably squeal when going through Wild Hunt.
The more tasks you take on, the more you will like The Witcher
What to do?
Geralt has something to do in the game world, including additional. tasks, plot and orders. You can play local Hearthstone – Gwent, which by the way is pretty sticky. You will also be offered to take part in horse races, and there is an opportunity to find treasures. And of course, you can simply wander around the world, from village to village, where there may be robbers on the way who are trying to rob a passing merchant. No one will force you to fight them. If you want to fight, you want to mount a horse and say "The roach moved" and jump to the nearest tavern, where you can win a couple of crowns in a fight and buy yourself vodka eat.
It’s a pleasure to be in a tavern
Plus-Minus
But traveling in The Witcher probably wouldn’t seem so cool if it weren’t for the musical and visual design. You get imbued with the spirit of the European Middle Ages looking at everything happening around you. Wonderful art, monsters, landscapes, in addition to mega cuts in the spirit of Scandinavian music. Just a delight.
I played on PS 4 and unfortunately not everything is as smooth as I would like. Often there is a noticeable subsidence in the rendering, which made me remember GTA 5 on PS 3. And in addition, sometimes the game drops to 20 (if not 15) frames per second. It seems like I bought myself a next gen console, but it slows down like on your old PC. I suppose that this is much better than what happened with the killers of kings at the start, but still… And since we’re talking about the minuses, it’s worth noting the voice acting, sometimes accelerated, sometimes slow. Looks funny. Geralt’s conversation with Yen – While Geralt speaks normally, and the frame stays on him, not showing that Yen, judging by the way she then talks, drinks a bottle of vodka in one gulp, and while the frame stays on the drunken Yenifer, Geralt looks like he’s snorting cocaine, and in a panic, quickly tells the answer you’ve chosen.
Mast buy
Everything else works and feels great, I had a lot of fun playing through it and if you still doubt it (as I did) then don’t. Even if you don’t like The Witcher and the setting you’ll be in, you’ll still be delighted. Game of Thrones of the gaming industry and a serious competitor to MGS Phantom pain for game of the year, in my opinion.
